Spartakiada
More than thirty years ago, a group of cyclists rοde their bicycles from Athens to Sparta.
Thus laying the foundation of the biggest amateur cycling race of our time, which is none other than "Spartakiada".
The race is organized by the Cycling Association of Veteran Athletes. Every October, many cyclists from all over Greece take part in this important - non-competitive - cycling event, which starts from the Kallimarmaro Panathinaiko Stadium, crosses the Peloponnese and ends after about 12 hours in front of the statue of King Leonidas in Sparta.
