The themes of the permanent collection include historical painting, portrait, antiquity, ethnography, symbolism, outdoors, reflections on Greek light and Greekness, abstract and abstract art. Visitors have the opportunity to admire eighty-two works, paintings and sculptures by important Greek artists: Vryzaki, Drossi, Kounelaki, Halepa, Lytra, Gyzi, Volanaki, Iakovidi, Partheni, Dimitriadis, Maleou, Papaou, Nikou Lykou, Nikou , Triantaphyllidis, Gounaropoulos, Kontoglou, Theofilou, Tsarouchi, Diamantopoulos, Morali, Avramidi, Kapralou, Spyropoulos, Stamou, Efthymiadis - Menegaki, Mytara, Fasianou, Gaiti.
The gallery also exhibits fourteen oil paintings by Western European painters from the last decades of the sixteenth to the beginning of the twentieth century - donated by Ioannis Koumandaros. The Commandarios Gallery often hosts periodic exhibitions of the National Gallery in order to acquaint the public with modern Greek painting, as well as educational programs aimed at students of all levels of education and special groups of the public.
